Writing Less So I Can Write More
During the 33 days since I started writing first thing every day, I've written 77 posts at the 6 blogs I maintain. (This completely ignores 3 others I've neglected.)
My goal in life isn't to be a blog writer.
I'm going to cut back to one post every day except Sunday, and use the rest of this outpouring of writing energy to work on my books.
Two lists:
- Where I'll be posting:
- Spinhead
- Someday Box
- Finding Why
- Know Your Music
- Chief Virtual Officer
- my personal blog
- What I'll be writing instead:
- You Don't Want a Job
- Peacefully Courting the Muse
- I Know You Think You Understand What I Said but What You Don't Understand is That What I Said is Not What I Meant
- Into the Fog (the sequel to Through the Fog)
- another mystery, more Chandleresque
- the big important novel I started but which I'm scared to finish
I suspect their won't be a strict rotation to which posts are on which days. Also, since I still have to write 20 music posts in 4 weeks to have 300 posts by my music blog's 10th anniversary, I'll be writing there almost every day.
Otherwise, I'm focusing on these books.
What do you think? Agree? Disagree? It's not a conversation until you say something. Go ahead. Speak up.

Sounds like you've given yourself a job. How else can you be behind?
Well, unless you're dying. Fast. You're not dying fast are you? I would hate that. We'll never stumble up the stairs of an Irish pub singing (you well, me badly - but both of us happy) to our patient spouses (who will have given up on us hours before) if you die faster than we can manifest this.
Oh, you're not really behind? Phew!
Carry on. Or not. Psst... (a secret) ... if you are writing for 6 (or more) blogs you are a blog writer. If you aren't a blog writer then.... (do I have to say "Stop it!" I'll sound like your mother - or my mother. Someone's mother.)

Other than repainting the Sistine Chapel (and rewiring it for Dolby sound), replacing all the country's octagonal stop signs with rhomboids and recasting the bible in Esperanto, "I'll be focusing on these books."
I do like how you tell us you'll be relaxing with your books now, and oh by the way, the guy you hear typing feverishly into the depths of the night—that's you too. Hey, since you're not that busy anymore, can you write my blog posts as well?
